A medieval witch travels through time to modern New York to save a knight, only to discover he has become the Original Vampire. She bears the mission of mending the rift in time and space. William, the villain who loves her unrequitedly, melts the key into his own bones, forcing her to choose between sealing the rift permanently or repairing it. She chooses to repair it — to make the gateway capable of both opening and closing. She steps through the gateway alone and returns six months later. The runes on his chest fade away, and he is finally human once more.
