Genny, a scholarship student at elite Emory High, survives on food stamps while everyone else has black cards. She becomes the only academic rival to Chase Miller, the heir with hidden bruises from his abusive father. When Genny's research is stolen and she's framed for plagiarism, she asks Chase for help—he refuses. At the hearing, she tears up her expulsion order and vows to crush everything they care about, pulling Chase into her fight. They go from enemies to allies, facing family pressure and a forced engagement. In the end, Chase shreds his family trust papers, telling Genny he's doing it not for her, but for the person who made him feel alive for the first time.
