In the traditional shipping industry of the Great Lakes, Claire—a 31-year-old claims auditor—is known for her uncompromising, rigid nature. Once a cool "Harley girl" tearing up the roads of the Midwest, she has since withdrawn into a shell, enduring the combined harassment of her ex-husband Brandon (a company VP) and his mistress, Ashley. The pair have forged insurance policies, coveting a multi-million-dollar fund of unclaimed claims, and are fabricating charges to force her out. Meanwhile, her conservative Catholic family pressures her to remarry Brandon—threatening to cut off financial support—in order to secure access to the family trust. Just as her ex-husband conspires with Detroit underground carriers to ruin her completely, Ethan, an executive brought in to oversee corporate restructuring, takes the helm. Unbeknownst to anyone, this stern executive is the very same young man Claire rescued in the wilderness five years ago; he now secretly shields her while maneuvering through the power struggle. When her ex-husband attempts to destroy her career with trumped-up charges of professional misconduct, Claire—armed with audit evidence and federal law—launches a fierce counterattack to expose the sham marriage and dismantle the entire corrupt network.
