Vivian Cardozo was once the legendary architect "V." Sixteen years ago, she gave up Yale and a top studio offer to support her husband Nathan's career—retreating behind the scenes as a full-time wife, secretly revising every core design for Whitmore.
On the night before their anniversary, Vivian caught Nathan cheating with a young designer, Madeleine. Her son Owen, influenced by his father and grandparents, mocked and belittled her—only her daughter Violet stayed by her side. Heartbroken, Vivian filed for divorce and accepted Adrian Winthrop's sixteen-year-standing offer to return to architecture as "V."
At Winthrop headquarters, Vivian confronted Nathan and Madeleine. Madeleine accused her of plagiarism—but Adrian exposed Madeleine's theft of "V"'s work. Nathan still saw Vivian as a useless housewife, and openly let Madeleine replace her at home.
At an international design competition, Madeleine's plagiarized entry was exposed by head judge Severin—Whitmore was disqualified and investigated. Severin then revealed Vivian as the legendary "V," and her original work "Nirvana" won gold. Nathan and Madeleine were ruined and taken away by industry investigators.
Nathan and Owen, desperate, begged Vivian to save the collapsing family—she refused. With Adrian's support, Vivian took Violet and flew to New York, starting a new life on her own terms.
