In The Great Xuan Dynasty, orphaned Eve Sterling is ostracized by her relatives, and villagers force her to take in a strange-looking amnesiac youth named Star as her companion. The two are forced to move to the desolate Black Mountain. Star possesses special powers that can improve soil and cultivate crops, though using these abilities drains his own energy. After repeated harassment from neighbors and covetousness from imperial forces, Star regains his memory during a crisis: he is an Interstellar Prince. Eve and her companions travel to the capital to expose a powerful official's scam, and are granted land. When an alien fleet approaches, Star gives up the chance to return to his home planet, choosing to stay on the land, farm with Eve and spend the rest of his life with her.
