Olivia was six when her mother died saving her life. Her father blamed her. He called her a killer. He locked her in the attic. He gave her mother's crown to a stranger. Cressida was that stranger—a girl who had been surgically altered to look like Olivia's dead mother. The father adored her. Olivia was beaten, starved, and forgotten. Ten years passed. Then a phone rang. It had been silent for a decade. A voice said, "Baby, Mommy's coming home." Thisbe, the mother everyone thought was dead, returned. She saw what had been done to her daughter. She divorced her husband. She took Olivia away. Cressida tried to frame Olivia. She tried to seduce the father. She tried to destroy the family with lies. Thisbe had evidence. The truth came out. Cressida and her real father were arrested. Olivia forgave her father, but she did not stay. She left with her mother. They drove to France. They started a new life. The girl in the attic was finally free.
