Mel, the heiress of the Santini family, defied her family’s opposition, hid her identity, and married the thug Declan. Behind the scenes, she used her resources to help her husband build his own gang. Ten years into their marriage, Mel unexpectedly caught Declan having an affair with the pregnant Isabella; the two were also plotting to seize her family’s assets once the child was born. After gathering evidence and discovering that her husband was naturally infertile, Mel resolved to return to her family. Her father immediately designated her as the family heir and secretly took comprehensive measures to undermine Declan’s business. During a meeting where Declan was dividing up profits to maintain loyalty, Mel produced the evidence of his affair on the spot. Realizing he had been embezzling resources to support his mistress, the gang members turned against him one by one. Later, the Santini family held a grand celebration to officially announce Mel as the heir. Unaware of the situation, Declan arrived with his mistress in an attempt to curry favor, but when he mocked Mel, he was thrown out. Seizing the opportunity, Mel completely wiped out Declan’s gang and revealed to him that the father of her unborn child was someone else. A confrontation erupted between Declan and Isabella; as Isabella fled with the money, she was killed, leaving Declan to lose everything and end up as a beggar. Mel became the family’s first female godmother and expanded the empire across the entire East Coast.
