At eighteen, Elliot hid a confession of his three-year-long crush inside a birthday cake—only to overhear Ryan denying any romantic interest in men to his friends, uttering words that cut Elliot to the core. Compounded by his father’s grave illness, a heartbroken Elliot left, spending the following years struggling to cover medical bills and debts. Five years later, he returned to his old school as Jace Reed, a renowned model. Though Ryan—who had spent years searching for him—recognized him, Elliot coldly refused to acknowledge their past. Ryan, catching glimpses of his former love in familiar eyes, a certain smile, and a "penguin knight" trinket, tried to get close through work; however, he was misled by Elliot into believing that Elliot already had a partner. To put an end to the pursuit, Elliot’s younger brother, Jamie, lied and claimed that Elliot had died, even presenting fireplace ash as his remains—a deception that plunged Ryan into utter despair. A confrontation at the cemetery exposed the lie, while a photograph from a fashion show finally unmasked Jace’s true identity. Ryan confessed his childhood trauma and his past cowardice, but Elliot refused to let such hardships serve as an excuse for the pain Ryan had caused him. As they faced malicious rumors spread by a colleague named Logan and a sinister, possessive plot orchestrated by a high-profile model named Adrian, Ryan began to respect Elliot’s choices—eventually risking his own life to shield him during a kidnapping and shooting. While Ryan kept his survival a secret to gather evidence, a grief-stricken Elliot stepped forward to provide testimony. In the end, the crimes were brought to light, and Ryan returned to the courtroom. Reunited, the two finally embraced with complete honesty, learning to cherish each other’s true feelings as they headed home together.
