The night Bella wins the Hollywood Best Actress award, her secret lover Lucian publicly announces his high-profile engagement to wealthy heiress Anna. Cold and ruthless, Lucian brushes Bella off with a check, prioritizing his family’s interests over her feelings.
To eliminate her rival, Anna bribes media outlets to spread rumors that Bella slept her way to fame, completely blacklisting her from Hollywood. Crushed by betrayal, Bella is diagnosed with leukemia. Faced with exorbitant medical bills, she begs Lucian for help — only to witness him gently accompanying Anna for a prenatal checkup.
Heartbroken, Bella tries to flee, but Lucian confiscates her passport and Social Security number, locking her in a villa. He even allows Anna to cut off her painkillers, leaving her dying in agony. At the last moment, Bella’s adoptive mother rescues her and smuggles her out of the country overnight.
Three years later, Bella recovers fully from leukemia after a successful bone marrow transplant, protected by the most powerful North American mafia godfather. Her new lease on life is shattered when she receives photos of her adoptive parents’ fatal car crash.
The godfather grants her a black card and the identity of a top ruler, accompanying her back to New York for revenge. Bella reunites with Lucian at a banquet, where he attempts to approach her but is blocked. Pretending to be docile, she infiltrates the upper class to investigate her parents’ death, while the godfather suppresses Anna’s family, pushing it to the brink of bankruptcy.
Gradually, Bella falls in love with the loyal and protective godfather, and their affection is mutual. Further investigation uncovers the shocking truth: Lucian and Anna’s families deliberately orchestrated her biological father’s sacrificial death and her adoptive parents’ car accident.
On Lucian and Anna’s wedding day, Bella and the godfather crash the ceremony with solid evidence. They strip Lucian of his power, wealth and status. As Lucian begs for redemption, the godfather presses a gun to his forehead. Bella burns the core documents of Lucian’s family empire and tosses the burning paper onto Anna’s wedding gown, declaring that the couple will pay for all their crimes with their lives.
Lucian and Anna end up as despised outcasts with nothing left. Having survived life-or-death hardships together, Bella and the mafia godfather build an unbreakable bond and embrace a brilliant new life.
