At the age of 12, gifted young painter Elara V lost her parents in a tragic accident. She was then taken in by her malicious uncle Marcus Vance. For ten long years, Marcus stole every original artwork Elara created, signing them under the name of his biological daughter Celeste to enter art competitions, sell at auctions, and build a fake persona as a child prodigy painter. To keep Elara obedient and trapped, he held their elderly, gravely ill grandmother hostage as leverage, subjecting Elara to years of unlawful confinement and mental manipulation. He forced her to act as a meek, timid, unremarkable wallflower in public, locking her inside the Vance family’s gilded cage and even cutting off all her chances to visit the grandmother she loved dearly.
Elara endured a decade of silent suffering, devising a unique way to pour all her grief and rage into her art: double-layer paintings. The top layer featured soft, gentle commercial landscapes and portraits for the world to see, while hidden beneath the pigment lurked secret imagery—skulls, iron cages, and blazing flames. Every canvas served as her wordless cry for justice. She quietly plotted her escape and revenge, waiting for a powerful ally strong enough to stand against the Vance family’s wealth and influence.
On the day of Celeste’s lavish wedding, Elara was ordered to paint a commemorative portrait backstage. She appeared compliant as she drew the newlyweds, yet secretly sketched a massive skull hovering above their heads.
