A 100-meter-tall Colossus is unearthed in the northwest wasteland, having slumbered for ages. Scientist Victor Crawford repeatedly attempts to stimulate the Colossus with no results. Sage Sterling, a researcher burdened with public controversy, is invited to the base. She uses empathetic comfort to elicit a reaction from the Colossus, only to be targeted by Victor Crawford. Sage uncovers secrets of illegal experiments, gathers evidence with allies, and broadcasts the truth live. Through spiritual resonance, Sage glimpses the Colossus's tens of thousands of years of memories and stays with it to heal its old wounds. The Colossus guards the nearby town, and the barren wasteland gradually grows into an oasis. Sage clears her name of all accusations, often returns to the wasteland, and peacefully passes away in the palm of the Colossus in her old age.
